Power restored after nearly 6,000 Entergy customers lost power overnight

Entergy alerted customers of a power outage on Wednesday evening

NEW ORLEANS — As of 5:00 a.m. Thursday morning nearly all of Entergy customers have their electricity restored after gusty winds and rain swept through the region Wednesday night.

According to Entergy’s outage map, 2,000 people are still left without power mostly in parts of Tangipahoa Parish. Entergy crews are working to restore power in certain areas. Less than 200 customers are still without power in New Orleans as of 5:00 a.m.

At the height of the power outage Wednesday evening, nearly 6,000 residents were without power across New Orleans

Entergy alerted customers in New Orleans East of the outage around 6 p.m. Over 1,000 customers are affected in areas along Chef Menteur Blvd and Old Spanish Trail.

Near Washington Ave and Audubon Street nearly 2,400 customers are without electricity.

Entergy reported power outages around 8:55 p.m.

Entergy said the power outage was caused due to high winds. Crews are working on a power pole at the intersection of Simon Bolivar and Jackson.

The company expects power to be restored on Thursday morning around 1 a.m.
