Xavier University's cheerleading squad wins NCA national championship

XULA cheer beat Westcliff 91.3375 to 89.7166 on Saturday making it the second national title the program has received in five years.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. β€” Xavier University of Louisiana's competitive cheer has won another national title in the advanced large coed NAIA division at the NCA College Nationals in Florida.

XULA cheer beat Westcliff 91.3375 to 89.7166 on Saturday making it the second national title the program has received in five years, according to the university's website.

In 2022, The Gold won the NAIA championship and "became the first XULA team in any sport to win an NAIA-sponsored national title."

"What a wonderful way to end our season," head coach Glenn Caston said. "The resilience and determination that this team has shown is unmatched. This team will never be assembled again, yet it will motivate all future XULA cheerleaders to keep striving for excellence."

The team's win even had actress Gabrielle Union excited. "Why am I crying? For those who aren't familiar with competitive cheer, this is HUGE!! And it's NOT due to a lack of talent," she posted on X.

This season, the squad's final record was 54-2-1 (.956) in nine competitions.
