Slidell man dies after being ejected on I-10 Twin Spans in multi-car crash

Alfred Robair Jr., 56, of Slidell died in the crash, according to Louisiana State Police Troop L.

LOUISIANA, USA — A Slidell man is dead after a crash on I-10 Westbound on Saturday. The accident backed up traffic in Slidell on the Twin Spans.

The bridge had been shut down for nearly three hours as emergency workers responded to the wreck which happened before 11 a.m.

Alfred Robair Jr., 56, of Slidell died in the crash, according to Louisiana State Police Troop L.

Robair was driving a Nissan pickup truck and rear-ended another driver in a Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Robair's truck hit a guardrail and he was ejected from the truck and died on the scene. The driver of the Trailblazer was hit again by an unknown vehicle, state police said.

Robair was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Trailblazer along with a passenger were taken to a hospital nearby and both had on their seatbelts.

State police said the driver of the Trailblazer suffered moderate injuries and the passenger had minor injuries.

Lanes were back open on the Twin Span despite some heavy traffic after the accident.

Interstate cameras show heavy traffic clogging the westbound side, which leads into New Orleans from Slidell. If you're looking to avoid the Twin Span on your route into New Orleans, the Highway 11 Bridge and the Causeway Bridge are the best alternative routes.

WWL Louisiana is seeking updates from law enforcement about the accident for this breaking story.
