NOPD releases video of motorist crashing into parked car, before allegedly driving off

The driver exited the vehicle, surveyed the damage and then allegedly drove off without leaving information.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department released a video on Wednesday from a RING doorbell camera that shows a man crash his vehicle into a parked sedan before allegedly driving off in the Lower Garden District earlier this month.

According to the NOPD, the incident happened on Saturday, May 4, near the intersection of Constance Street and Jackson Avenue.

In the video, a red Ford Edge can be seen at the 15-second mark hitting a parked red sedan after swerving to avoid rear-ending a white SUV, which was stopped due to traffic.

Police believe the suspect's vehicle may still have front-end damage on the passenger side. The vehicle also has silver fender trim above the tires and the black bumper is faded. There is no year or license plate number linked to the vehicle.

The NOPD described the driver is described as a Black male wearing all-black clothing.

Police are asking anyone with information on the identity of the subject or location of the vehicle to contact the NOPD Traffic Division Hit and Run Unit at 504-658-6211.
