Boil advisory issued for Lafourche Parish subdivision

The boil advisory will remain in effect until rescinded by the water district.

THIBODAUX, La. — Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1 issued a precautionary boil advisory for the Marydale subdivision in Thibodaux on Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, the district purchases water from Terrebonne Consolidated Waterworks to service this area and they were notified by Terrebonne Water that there was a drop in water pressure in their distribution system due to a main line leak.

Residents in the area are asked to bring water to a rolling boil in a clean container for a full minute.

If the water has a flat taste afterward, shake it in a bottle or pour it from one container to another.

A boil advisory for portions of South and Central Lafourche was lifted on Monday.

The current advisory will remain in effect until rescinded by the district once notification is received from the Louisiana Department of Health– Office of Public Health that the water samples taken are safe.
