JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — Tropical Storm Barry has finally made landfall after crawling through the Gulf for days. 

The storm's surge and rains have already significantly flooded several areas of lower Jefferson Parish, including the community of Lafitte.

A mandatory evacuation order was issued for for lower-lying Lafitte, Barataria, Crown Point and the Town of Jean Laffitte on Thursday ahead of Tropical Storm Barry's landfall.

The storm finally reached the coast as a weak Category 1 hurricane around 1 p.m. Saturday before quickly losing steam and falling back to a Tropical Storm.
